Game of Intros at Boxers

What a fun night and a great crowd at last night’s Game of Intros. We worked with Edge Network and The Men Event to sponsor the October Times Square Social. With Hedda Lettuce as the host, we made sure tons of Intros were made and saw more than a few people walk out with future dates!

Sexy or Scary? What Your Adult Halloween Costume Says About You

By Jackie Potts

Somewhere around the Pimp & Ho’ party era, Halloween stopped being just a kids’ cavity fest, and turned into a singles free-for-all. Proper paralegals now cavort in cupcake bra costumes a la Katy Perry, while hedge fund managers suit up like zombies, G.I. Joe, and sometimes Sweet Transvestites from Transsexual Transylvania (Thank you, “Rocky Horror Picture Show”).

Are you a single who can’t wait for October 31 to let your id run wild? And what does all this cos-play reveal about you?  Here are some popular, perennial costumes:

  • The Sexy Pirate Wench, Policewoman, Princess:  Funny how buttoned-down publicists by day morph into cleavage-baring fembots at night. Is this the Paris Hilton effect?
  • The Scary Zombie Bride or Slasher Villain: The same kids who used to throw dissected worm guts at you in Biology class have now moved onto gory costumes.
  • The Superhero: Psst, guys, ladies love a man in a cape and Spandex as long as it fills in all the right places—and none of the wrong.
  • The Cross-Dresser: Does every former jock itch to strap on heels and lipstick when the moon turns full? Personally, we’ll never forget the 6-foot, 3-inch coworker who revealed his fishnet fetish in 2006. Don’t dream it, be it. You’ll be remembered forever.

Here at MeetMoi, we recently co-hosted a Venetian Masquerade Ball with Social Media Exposure. Lots of fun-loving singles made new connections and indulged in outrageous adult Halloween fun. See the photos below!

If you’re headed out on October 31, stay safe with these common-sense tips. Tell your friends where you’re going. Never meet a stranger in costume alone: bring backup. And don’t accept cocktails from masked avengers, even if he (or she!) does have his own Batmobile.

Happy haunting!

Join MeetMoi and Running Late Show this Fall for Laughs

The evenings are getting slightly cooler here in New York, which means summer is coming to an end—but that doesn’t mean the fun will. Our summer event series, “Seize the Date,” was such a hit, we wanted to extend the excitement into the upcoming fall months. Here’s a sneak peek at one of the major partnerships we’re bringing to you.

Starting September 6, MeetMoi is teaming up with one of the funniest comedy talk shows in the city—Running Late Show with Scott Rogowsky. You can catch the show live at the Peoples Improv Theatre for the first three Thursdays of every month.

Each Thursday, there’s a different guest as part of the show. Here’s a look at the lineup for September:

  • 9/6 : Lead singer of the Spin Doctors CHRIS BARRON! He’ll be playing some classic hits. And from the Key of Awesome (over 1.5 billion YouTube hits) MARK DOUGLAS! Purchase tickets here.
  • 9/13: RL Stine (Author), David Shuster (Current TV news anchor), and Stone & Stone (Last Comic Standing). Purchase tickets here.
  • 9/20: An Evening with The New Yorker Cartoonists. Purchase tickets here.

During the shows, which begin at 9:30pm, MeetMoi users get a 2-for-1 drink special. Link up with an Intro and join the crowd for some good laughs. Email meetmoi@runninglateshow.com with your name in the subject line, and you’ll receive a drink coupon at the box office.

Past guests have included actress Amber Tamblyn (Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants), Jenny Slate (The Lorax), David Cross (Arrested Development), Dave Hill (10 Things I Hate About You TV series), and more.

Hope you’re ready to laugh; we’ll see you there!
