If this summer continues on as its been so far, it’s going to be a hot one! And while it’s nice to enjoy the outdoors, sometimes you just need to beat the heat, especially when you’re dating new people and want to look your best (hazy, hot, and humid is hardly date-friendly weather!). Here are some cool NYC date ideas that’ll help you escape the steamy summer heat.
Art gallery hopping. Take an early evening stroll in SoHo and stop off at some art galleries to cool off and check out the latest showings. SoHoNYC.com is a good starting point to map out your must-see list.
American Museum of Natural History’s Hayden Planetarium. Snuggle up under the stars without having to worry about mosquitoes or humidity. There’s something romantic about reclining together in the dark, and realizing that something in the vast universe aligned the two of you together.
Movies at 92YTribeca. Instead of the basic dinner and movie date, go for something different at this small theater, which offers an eclectic schedule of indie and classic film screenings.
Madame Tussauds New York. Strike a pose with your favorite celebrities, ball players, superhereos, and more. It’s touristy, sure, but you can count on lots of laughs and cool temperatures inside the most infamous wax museum.
Take a round trip ride on the Staten Island ferry. There’s nothing like escaping the busy city life by boat, where you can take in the beautiful view of NYC’s stunning skyline. Even better, the 25 minute ride is air conditioned (or you can choose to sit outside and enjoy the breeze), the view of the Statue of Liberty is lovely, and the only cash you’ll have to shell out will be if you decide to indulge in a beer or two.
Sky Rink at Chelsea Piers. Who says ice skating is just for the winter time at Rockefeller Center? Take a cue from Rocky and Adrian’s adorable date from the movie “Rocky,” and enjoy some indoor skating fun together. There’s nothing like literally taking to the ice to beat the heat.
Grand Central Terminal Audio Tour. You may ride the subway all the time, but until you’ve experienced the Grand Central tour, you haven’t truly understood the rich history and beauty of this transportation hub and famous landmark. While you’re there, you and your date can stay out of the scorching sun and grab a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants, or simply window shop and people watch.
Enjoy some hot chocolate. Frozen hot chocolate, that is. Little Italy’s famous Serendipity 3 cafe and restaurant is known for its decadent desserts, including outrageous ice cream sundaes and frozen drinks.
Luckily, there’s so much to do in New York City that no matter what the weather, you don’t have to let a heat wave put a damper on your dating plans.

To try and prevent any fehrtur idiotic statements from being made (though some morons are going to open their mouths anyway) I have to point out that the TARGET AUDIENCE (for you morons it means who this video is geared towards) are Christians that are dating. If you are not a Christian (like myself) or abstain from the dating scene, shut your mouths and see if you can learn something from this.If it applies to you then take what you can and empower yourselves, if not then let these people be
